This game from The Great American Trading Company's Inventors Collection is overproduced and it underdelivers.

The board, made of three different colors of wood, is beautiful. Too bad the game, which could be played with a standard checkerboard and checkers, is undeserving of such treatment.

The board has five rows of diamonds, narrowing from four spaces in the outer rows to two in the center. Each player puts four checkers on their back row. The game plays like checkers, except captures are not required and double jumps aren't allowed. The winner is the first to have all his remaining pieces in the opposing back row. This means if one player loses all pieces but one, he still wins if that one is in the back row.

Oska is only marginally more interesting than tic-tac-toe. Perhaps the components justify the $25 pricetag, but the gameplay doesn't. Unless you store it flat, pieces will spill out from the open front of the "box" (read: sleeve). Place your money elsewhere.
